Installation and Configuration of Failover Cluster Services on Host 1.


1.      Open Server Manager
2.      If failover cluster is not installed, install it by going to Add Roles and Features Wizard and following the below steps. If installed follow Step 3.
a.       Select Installation Type to Role-based or feature-based installation
b.       In Server Selection screen go with default.
c.        Click next on Server role.
d.       In the Features screen, select Failover Clustering -> click next.
e.        Click Add features, Click next and confirm the selections, click Install.
3.      Click Failover Cluster Manager under the Tools menu
4.      Right click Failover Cluster Manager, choose the “Create Cluster’’.

5.      Click Next
6.      In Select Servers window, click browse and select host server 1.
7.      Now the wizard will validate the selection, the list should just contain the FQDN name of this server.
8.      Click Next
9.      Now wizard will validate your settings – review the report and see if there is any issue, if there is any, correct it and run the validation again.
10.  In Access Point for Administering window enter a suitable cluster name (mine is HPVclus)
11.  Ensure that a tick is placed next to the networks that represents the management network for the cluster (the Management NIC).
12.  Make sure you are entering a free IP address (which is not assigned to any machine/device) and subnet in the address column.
13.  Verify the settings, and click next
14.  Wait for the cluster to be validated and configured.
15.  Ignore witness disk warning and Click Finish.
